Valencia Manchester City move imminent

I feel like I'm better prepared and I want to take on greater challenges

The only thing missing from Ferran Torres' move to Manchester City is the official confirmation, but the Spaniard believes that this is the right time to leave Valencia.

The deal is worth a 23 million euros plus 12 million euros in add-ons, which is lower than Valencia wanted to sell him for, however their hands were tied by the fact that Ferran's contract was set to expire in 2021.

"As a player, I consider myself to be ambitious, someone that wants to win, win win, and, as time passes and you feel you are better prepared, then you want to take on greater challenges, experience a change of environment," Ferran told the BBC.

"Yes, I think I am ready to [make that change].

"Inside I always think that I am the best, and that I want to be the best and I work to try to be the best.

"If you don't believe yourself that you are the best, then no one is ever going to believe that you are."

Ahead of the move to Pep Guardiola's side, Ferran confirmed that he is learning English.

"Yes, you have always got to be learning languages because you never know where football will take you tomorrow.... but, above all, I am learning English, because English is essential whatever part of the world you are in," he noted.

Ferran has come through Valencia's academy and he admits that he is proud to have played for their first team.

"I remember putting on the shirt then going into the bathroom looking at myself almost in a daze," the 20-year-old said.

"I was just wearing the shirt and my underwear and I was just staring at the shirt and saying to myself: 'What am I doing here? How did I get here?' It was a special moment.

"At the end of the day, it is the team from my land and the team that has given me everything."
